   The turning of a new eye upon him feels as if he’s been scrubbed raw suddenly, the truth of him pulled from the dark places he’d made to hide it away as something answers him.

   Simon is rescued at the last minute by *something* and dropped onboard the Hail Mary at quite possibly the worst time. Ryland Grace is fresh off a horrible fishing trip and his best friend is comatose. As the most injured and broken versions of themselves, they meet.

   Summary

   Simon is suspended in an ocean of blood, his skin boiling and reshaping and blistering and crawling with the most awful sensations all at once. Flesh and bones snap and crack, viscous red adhesive holding his shattering skeletal structure together. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts so much, so much he wants to scream, but the blood that has clotted in his body prevents him from doing so. There is nothing, absolutely nothing he can do, but endure this gross metamorphosis.

   Or: while saving the stars of different solar systems, the eridians come across the blood moon. The SM-13 has been taken back to Erid. New friend for Grace, yay!! He's human enough, they should get along. Hopefully.

   There is a void where they could not save the stars. Empty and cold, it lays dormant in its silent death. But some erdians found something impossible: life. Moving, writhing, violent life.

   And they brought it home to Erid. Back to where Grace can learn and observe the impossible alongside his friends and neighbors.

   But what they brought back isn't some mindless creature. It's not just a violent beast. It's human. Undeniably human.
