Summary
In another life, he thinks dully, Aenys might have been born a girl, and their father might have seen that Maegor would have made for the better heir – his only heir, in that circumstance – and promised Aenys’ hand to him to secure the line of succession. He allows himself to imagine it, for a fleeting second: his father’s warmth and attention, his place as heir to the Seven Kingdoms, Aenys receiving his wedding cloak shyly, a blush stained across his cheeks.
It is not an unpleasant thought.
