    Pearl is a Knight of peasant origin who hopes she can help reform the system from within, or at least protect the peasantry without bankrupting them with taxes. This changes when she is assigned to be the personal guard of Princess Gem.

    Gem is a lively and eccentric figure by princessly standards, often running away from the estate in which she resides. To stop this the King has assigned the new Peasant Knight Pearl Moon, to guard Gem to keep her from acting out.
