Only once they were out of sight of the café did the man stop and take his arm away, giving Stede a sheepish little grin. “Looked like you needed rescuing back there,” he said, and then held out his free hand. “I’m Ed.”
Stede, still a little dumbfounded, grasped Ed’s hand in a weak shake. “Stede. Stede Bonnet. I’ll pay you back for the tea, I promise. I get paid next week.”

You’re either being angry at each other or sad at each other or, the worst, barely disguised horny at each other. Barely disguised. Cuffs stay on til you sort your shit out, whether that’s making up or deciding to go your separate ways.”
“That’s a fuckin’ ridiculous idea,” Ed snaps, because he can’t contradict the angry, sad, horny descriptor. Boy’s got that part down pretty accurate.
“Yes, it is!” Stede says. “Where on earth did you come up with something like that?”
Frenchie jumps in to answer this one. “Buttons told us a story about his mum tying him and his little sister together when they’d fight, til they made up.”

The man hums, and another shiver runs down Stede’s spine. “To phone sex?” he asks. “Paying for it? To talking to a man?”
“All of the above,” Stede sighs. “I mean, I’ve talked to men before, obviously, but…”
“Not for sex.”

Summary

But then Professor Stede Bonnet, maritime archaeologist and many-times-great-grandson of the original, waltzes through the door of his shop and requests his services in finding the wreck. What are the odds?
Ed's had enough of the cutthroat world of salvage diving, and he's this close to leaving it all behind. But Bonnet's quest sparks an interest he hasn't felt in years, and he agrees to help the oddly charming man. Nothing to do with the fact that the Queen Anne might just be the last treasure trove Ed needs to escape his life. Definitely nothing to do with the way Bonnet's cheerful enthusiasm makes his heart skip a beat.
Together they'll hunt for the wreck... and then they'll reckon with what comes next.

Izzy is desperate for him to move, to give him anything that might tip him over the edge, but Stede is too busy marveling at the mess he’s made between his legs and the stark visual of black leather on pale skin. It was Edward’s idea of course, as all insane, ridiculous ideas usually are, to have Stede put on his leathers and corner Izzy in the hold.
And it was also Ed’s hair brained, idiotic suggestion for Stede to put Izzy on his back and order him to ‘spread his legs for Blackbeard’.
