“Tommy stilled for a moment, his hand gently touching the throbbing skin on his cheek. He removed his hand, and rubbed the residue between his fingers for a moment before meeting his father’s colorless angry eyes.
He felt a torrent of emotions rise within himself; grief, anxiety and…an unfamiliar feeling—an awakening of a pent up inexhaustible rage.
Tommy felt his own gaze turn icy, it wasn’t like his fathers—a gray intensity that ceaselessly drew one in—no, Tommy’s was hardened, stronger than tempered steel and colder than the tundra upon which he stood. Then, just as quickly as the slap that hit him, Tommy grabbed the offending wrist of his father—using it to get closer.
“Well, father,” he began in an emotionless voice that practically dripped with venom, “it seems that perhaps, our visions of perfection—for me—are not the same,” a breath out, “I’ve tried reasoning with you, I’ve tried being patient, hell, I’ve tried to be your ‘version of perfection’ for so long that I almost fucking died—” a breath in, “—you need to move on.””
TLDR; Tommy confronts his father, Wilbur helps him deal with the fallout.
