He’d be better off if it was any random bozo. Any other person, he’d ignore them, call them a hack if he ever gets asked again, and call it a day. Truly no one is going to make that much of an effort to really tear apart a product and reverse-engineer it to the extent that it actually works. No one has the time, or the smarts.
But it’s fucking Viktor, so of course he does.
It has to be the principle of the thing. Fucking with Jayce. Taunting him. Showing how smart he is, how he can still know HexTech inside and out. A threat, of sorts. Perhaps he wants hush money. Jayce doesn’t think the whole open-source, biohacking spiel that he went to after their break-up pays all that much money, anyway. The channel, save for this last video, barely has views, not like he’s making a living out of this either.
“So this would be all. See you in the next launch,” he says. “Fuck Hextech, fuck their copyright, fuck their programmed obsolescence. And fuck you, Jayce. Personally. ”

So, either it was a trap, or it wasn’t. Either he went, or he didn’t go.
A two-by-two decision matrix.
If it was a trap, and he went, he’d have to fight. Probably at a disadvantage, given that Viktor would seize the opportunity to ambush him. If it was a trap, and he didn’t go, he’d get to spend a beautiful Sunday morning holed up in his office, tinkering with a project. If it wasn’t a trap, and he went, he would very likely save a life. And if it wasn’t a trap, and he didn’t go, he’d have to live with the fact that he’d killed his old friend by inaction.
Risk assessment was so damn hard when it was Viktor on the line.
