    Carefully tearing open the letter, he slides the hard cardstock out of the envelope. Kaveh's heart pounds against his chest, threatening to rip through skin. He unfolds the letter and only reading the first sentence his breath is ripped from his throat causing him to choke on spit.

    Kaveh receives news of his mother's, Faranak, passing. He is quick to blame himself. Alhaitham is there to catch him as he falls, reminding him that he is only human and someone worthy of love.

    When Kaveh returns to Sumeru, he tries to convince himself that it was all just the aftermath of a heatstroke. But coming home only makes things worse. Extreme exhaustion, the weight of his own insecurities, and Alhaitham’s cold logic -incapable of understanding the abyss Kaveh feels himself sliding into- drag him into an increasingly suffocating paranoia.

    As he loses control of his surroundings and his own memories, Kaveh begins to doubt the only thing he has left: his own sanity.

    In a nation ruled by wisdom and reason, what happens when your memories vanish like sand through your fingers?
