Summary
One simple idea that changes everything: Ariadne, audience avatar, is a plant. Dr. Stephen Miles places her - a twenty-six-year-old architecture student and polymath - on Cobb's radar as insurance, security, backup, and (of course) builder.
She thinks she's ready for dreamshare, based on what she's read.
Yeah, not even close.
(Canon-compliant, insofar as interpolating an entire new plotline and spinning the perspective can be considered "compliance".)

The Ariadne novel I didn’t know I needed. Brilliant characterizations and deep dive plot.

Bookmarker's Notes
Masterful. Lulls with Barista! Coffee shop! trope. I re-read immediately. Character insights that are revising my head canon. Phrases to carry, like “… Arthur’s worked hard to caulk and seal the places where he tends to be porous to other people’s moods….”
Delighted to find this fandom alive with brilliant writing! -

It's not that Arthur doesn't enjoy his boring job (because he does), and it's not that Arthur doesn't have hobbies (because he does), and it's not that Arthur doesn't experience a surprising number of romantic prospects cropping up (because he does); it's just that he's not happy for no reason, and he can't stop texting his tailor.
