    Buck is no stranger to being alone. He spent years fending for himself after leaving the house he grew up in, and even the years before that, he didn’t really have anyone.
    He thought he had found a family with the 118. He had a captain he came to see as a father, found a mother in Athena and a wider family from his coworkers and theirs. Buck even thought he might have a chance at something more with the man who was his best friend and his son. He should have known better.

    A post-lawsuit fic (kind of) where Buck leaves and never really had any intention of coming back. The universe has different plans for him though.
