Foolish enough to open up about his own hopes and dreams.And for all of Gary’s foolishness, Pawbert felt even worse- because the snake’s earnest, unexpected offer of companionship was steadily cracking apart the resolve he’d built his entire plan on.
And worse, something unfamiliar had begun to take its stead.

Pawbert’s wrist vibrated loudly as the first foreboding notes of a ringtone echoed off the icy walls.
“Ugh, what now?” he moaned. “I was right in the middle of something!”
The irritated feline raised his smartwatch. “‘Incoming call?’ Huh. I didn’t know my watch could do that,” he mused curiously before checking the ID.
“Oh, it’s just my father,” he smiled. “Well, I was planning to tell him the good news in person, but you know what they say, ‘strike while the iron is hot!’”
The naive lynx excitedly pressed the accept button. “Hey Da–”
“Pawbert,” his father growled, cutting him off. “Just what do you think you’re doing!? Are you working with a fucking SNAKE!?”

It's been 3 months since the Lynxley family was revealed to be a bunch of dirty, lying felines who had stolen the credit for the founding of Zootopia, from the snake, Agnes De'Snake. Reptile Ravine has just recently reopened, and the reptile community within Marsh Market is flourishing.
Inside his new home, Gary De'Snake finds himself with too much time and quiet to think. He's missing a warmth he wasn't even sure was real to begin with. He thinks about the hands that held him warmly, and the same hands that threw him into the cold to die.
Pawbert Lynxley sits in a cell trying not to let his mind tear itself apart, thinking of the time ago when he had the temporary comfort of a strange reptile, and the option to betray his own plan in order to keep it. Instead, he followed through, in order to gain approval from a father who might then love him. And now, he had neither.

He is soon "hired" by a very broke detective, Christopher Rudolph, who had recently been kicked out of his hometown due to not being the best at paying taxes. With him moving to Tundra Town, he hopes to live a better life of mystery, detective work, and lots of monetary opportunities.
