While traveling across the lands, Naruto and Sasuke are forced to confront what lies between them. They make a lot of discoveries about themselves, their past, and their true feelings for each other.
Very slow burn, canonverse, Sasuke POV (he is an unreliable narrator at times, be warned!). Honestly my take on what should have happened at the end of the anime.

"That's an order. Plus this guy is no threat. Without his brother here to save or defend him- I'm sure he'll be as cooperative as a trained dog." Bowser grinned, leaning down so he could hover over the man who was lying down on the stone floor, small puffs of air leaving his slightly parted lips. "If he becomes a nuisance or I simply grow bored, I'll kill him."
Kamek nodded. "As you wish, sire." In a poof of sparkly smoke, he was gone.
"So, greenie. It looks like it's just the two of us."

More importantly, should Luigi be worried about Bowser? Was he even important enough for a king to notice?

As Mario fights to rescue his brother, Luigi is granted a unique opportunity to see the Mushroom World from a different perspective, but he slowly begins to realize the good and evil of this universe may not be as clean-cut as he thought. Messy political cover-ups, harbored intentions, and strings of broken promises have shattered everyone’s trust, leaving Luigi to pick up the pieces if he wants this story to end with two kingdoms, not one.

Luigi has always been the forgettable one. Most people—including Bowser—only saw him as "the green Mario". No one's truly cared to get to know him past being Mario's brother. Luigi was never a threat to Bowser.
And Bowser was always the enemy. A friend to none and feared by all. Luigi believed his heart to be made of stone; cold, and incapable of feeling. Bowser was never a good guy in Luigis eyes.But all that changes when The king of koopas mistakenly kidnaps Luigi and they're forced to be in each others space. Soon, they begin to see eachother in a new light.
