When he was younger, his mark seemed innocent. The words were easily explained by a child’s play pretend at school or in a park. His Mama caressed his cheeks and told him he was going to be lucky to meet his soulmate young, that after their eyes met, they would dance around each other for the rest of their lives. Mario believed it, too… but with each year that flew by, as Luigi went from small boy to teen to adult, the story became less likely.
His mark became an embarrassment. It became something that caused his family shame. His soulmate was either being sarcastic and mocking him or he was… well… insane. After all, who was planning to marry a princess and rule the world in Brooklyn?
[In an alternative universe, everyone is born with a soulmark, but it manifests on different species in different ways. Humans wear the first words they hear their soulmate speak, while Koopas wear the last words their soulmate speaks to them.]

"But there's one problem, Luigi." The voice said his name slowly as if to test how it tasted on its tongue. "There's a human traveling with my fiancée." Luigi furrowed his eyebrows, hoping it wasn't Mario who was with the voice's fiancée.
"Has a mustache, just like you." He felt a finger rub against his neck, rising to his jaw as it fidddled with his 'stache. 'Dio mio, not now!' Luigi thought as he felt a warm feeling bubble in his stomach. "Do you know him..?" He opened his mouth to retaliate.
"Excuse me!" He started.
"I can't see. I'm blind, everything's just black! I wouldn't be able to know him if I 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮."
In which Luigi is warped into the Darklands with no sight whatsoever.
