    The sight is so riveting that he fails to register the way those ears perk up on sighting him or the smoldering crimson glare as a predator stalks towards him. By the time his mind has re-engaged Blade is looming over him.

    “He’s dead, Dan Heng.” Their noses brush together with every word, every breath. “You’re here and he’s not.”

    “I know,” Dan Heng says, his eyes shining with something almost regretful even as he inhales heavily, forcefully. “I can’t change that.”

    Blade shakes his head. “You don’t understand.” He reaches for Dan Heng’s hand, waiting until it’s given to press it to his chest. “You’re here and he’s not, so stake your claim, Dan Heng.”

    Or: After absorbing the Earth Titan’s coreflame and saving Amphoreus, Dan Heng starts going through ruts. When he tries to handle it by himself, his thoughts keep drifting to one particular man...whom he accidentally sexts. Instead of getting stabbed, Dan Heng gets something even better: Blade's help.
