Not 7:10. Not 7:20. Seven-fourteen, the way a clock keeps time — without deciding to, without knowing it was being watched. Driver had started noting it the third week. By the fifth, he didn’t need to look at his phone anymore. He just knew. He’d be at his door with his coffee, stepping out to the shared landing for air, and the door at the end of the hall would open.

Summary
The second one crosses the space to rest himself along his twins side, leaned against the arm of the chair. Fitzroy's eyes snapping back to the soft shoulders; the wanting-to-be-liked of him, and every time he shifts the thing low in Fitzroy's spine kicks a warning up his back.
That something deeper, something primal, that edge of instinct that Fitzroy had taken decades to dig up and learned to listen to is screaming as it’s strangled. The sudden, unexplainable knowledge that he is sitting across from men who would be just as content sitting down for dinner, or ripping out his beating heart to lick the open wound.
"Now," says the first one, settles in, comfortable as a man with a drink and an evening. "About Courtland."
(Or Ryland and Colt have been around for a long time and like to keep up with their descendants every now and then. Court just happens to be living in the crosshairs.)
