Summary
“Fuck,” Matt muttered, a hand reaching up to his face to wipe across his eyes. “Fuck , Takashi!”
Shiro hadn’t been expecting the exclamation; the small monkey-shaped part of his brain told him to tense up, and he listened. He watched Matt furiously rubbing at his eyes, trying to keep himself composed for his fellow rebels, no doubt hovering around somewhere. Privacy was only relative in space.
“Matt…” he stopped himself, unsure how to proceed. Should he apologise for the time lost? Would Matt appreciate an apology? Should he try to lighten the mood? Bring up an anecdote he was sure Matt looked back on with fondness. He never got to say any of it in the end.
“I’m sorry, Shiro.” His voice was trembling from the tears, his gaze shifted away from Shiro onto some spot on the other end of the call. “I’m sorry.”

Summary
It was the fourth funeral that week.
Steve approached Max while Robin scouted a spot to settle.
“Max,” he called softly, keeping his voice low out of respect.
The girl raised her head. Her eyes were red and bloodshot, her nose dripping. She wiped at it with her sleeve as Steve came to a halt beside her. “Hey,” she mustered up, trying for a small smile.
Steve smiled back politely, not having the energy for much more than that. “How’re you holding up?” He asked even though he already knew. Outside of her general appearance right then, he’d been hearing a lot about her withdrawal from her friends over the last couple of days. Lucas especially had been worried.
Nonetheless, Max shrugged. “You know,” she offered instead of her expected bluntness. “You?”
Steve lifted a shoulder in an attempt at a shrug, unsure how else to put it; he hadn’t known Billy after all. Max nodded as though she understood.

Summary
“You like both, right?” Wheeler junior asked in a whisper.
Steve nodded, his hands crossed and eyeing the kid.
“Right.” The kid nodded back slower. “How did you know? That you liked both?”
Sighing, Steve thought, would probably give off the impression that Steve was disinterested or irritated with the kid’s dilemma here, which wasn’t necessarily true, but the urge to do so boiled up so strongly. Instead though, he shrugged, slouching on the counter that separated the two of them. “I didn’t. For most of my life, I just thought staring at guys in locker rooms or on the basketball field or on TV was things that all guys do and just don’t talk about. Which is, by the way, not true.”

Summary
Asmodeus agreed to give a talk on consent for his favorite niece’s latest passion project... Redeeming sinners. If he’d known it was actually a thinly veiled intervention for one specific audience member, the one and only Angel Dust, he probably would’ve declined. Honestly, it was bound to be a disaster.
But Ozzie knows how to pick up the pieces.

Summary
Keith and Lance wake up married. In the future.
He lays there a moment, processing the faint throbbing in his head, a strange bitter taste like lemons in his mouth. When he opens his eyes, the room spins wildly into a kaleidoscope of colors, so he closes them again, breathing in and out until he feels less like he might throw up. He suddenly registers a warm weight over his waist, and lifts his head to see a brown arm thrown over him. It looks startlingly familiar, but different, bigger than he remembers, more toned.
Keith turns all the way around and comes face to face with Lance sleepily blinking his own eyes open.

Summary
Keith stared at him again, like he was desperately searching for something in Lance that he couldn’t quite find. “There’s no way I’m one of you.”
“Don’t be so sure,” Lance said. “All humans are different. I know plenty of grouchy people.”
“Um, have I stabbed you yet? No? Then I’m not grouchy.”

Summary
“I got caught up with something,” Thace hums, taking a right turn when Lance quietly tells him to do so.
“Doing what? Something cool?”
“If you count saving a teenager from being stuck on a monkey bar in the east neighborhood's playground as cool, then yes.”
“Lame,” his son declares and Thace ignores Lance’s offended yelp. “Is he cute, at least?”
Thace arches an eyebrow at the question before he shrugs. “Hey, kiddo, are you cute?” he asks over his shoulder, humming when hears Lance moving to lean forward from his seat.
“I would like to believe so, sir.”
[Or the one where Keith's the son of a police offer and asks by pure chance if the boy his dad 'arrested' that night is cute enough for his gay ass. Spoiler alert: he is.]
