    Barbara gave Jim up to James Sr. right after he was born, the entire relationship considered a mistake. Fourteen years later, in Arcadia Oaks, strange things start happening and she is caught up in them.

    When Jim was five his father discovered he was a changeling. His father is disgusted, Jim survives until he is 10 when he is found by Morgana, leader of the Janus Order, usurper of Bular and Gunmar. She trains him to fight, and at 12 he is made the Trollhunter.

    At fourteen Jim struggles to survive while the world around him slowly slides toward destruction.

    Groups were formed. The order of Arcane timeless sigils (The Oats! And yes many oatmeal and farm jokes are made) They make sure to keep magic and the humans in line so the world doesn't go apocalypse mode.
    And The gathering of troll greatness (GTG! Trolls don’t understand the ‘modern’ term for it so the humans find it funny) They make sure to keep troll world from getting out of hand.
    So the two work side by side and centuries later the trio joined. Nothing is more fun than mixing magic and the mundane into you life, right? That's what Claire, Jim, and Toby have learned!
    The dark prince of the Gumm-gumms has been ordered by his father to learn more on the mechanics of the worlds in order to aid him in gaining power and influence. A small twitch of fate caused the dark troll to meet the half troll. Bular considers Jim an enigma, something he must understand! So learn he will, in more ways than one

    Jim remembered fire.

    A violent blaze that overtook his home, snuffing out the life he knew. Glowing, golden eyes with slit pupils watching in the darkness; the stone-skinned monsters that stole everything from him.

    Barbara Lake died that night, and James Lake Jr. died with her.

    AU where Jim's father was a Changeling, so in order to hide his abominable mistake, the Order sets fire to his home, leaving Jim an orphan half-changling child... or an excuse to write a feral Jim after reading the book.
