The ceremony had to happen on a full moon, and then they were free to roam and find their own place to stay, a chance to live their own life. So as soon as Dan turns eighteen, he leaves home on the first full moon, and ends up at a seaside town. While he's there, he finds himself working at a bakery as a delivery boy, and the longer he stays, the more discoveries and experiences he has on the way.
