    Summary

"The traces of that day still lingered so vividly in his memories he could call forth its image as easily as moving a limb. A coin. A sheepish plea. Pale skin picking up red notes from the crackles of a campfire, and a naivety of character that remained still unmarred. The contrast drew attention to the earnestness of a boy who didn’t want to be separated from someone he had grown close to, and the dancing of the flames now seemed a small thing next to the hidden fire in his eyes. But it was Crow who had put out that fire by his own will. Why then, could he not let go?"

In which Crow and Rean both suffer from Hanahaki at different points in time.

    Summary

Illuga moved, his body having made the decision even though his conscious mind hadn’t caught up yet. He pushed Flins out of the way and felt the lance stab him in the heart through his back.
Strange, how that was almost painless. Perhaps his brain simply didn’t catch up yet. Perhaps it simply blocked away the pain. Either way, it was a small mercy. Slamming into the sand was hilariously more painful than the stab itself.

Illuga took up an attack that would have injured Flins, nearly dying in the process because of the Abyssal corruption that took over. Flins refused to let that happen, even if the method to save Illuga wasn’t something he was proud of.

    Summary

“I do enjoy the thrill of a hunt,” Varka laughed, loud and boisterous. The drink in his hand sloshed over his fingers and Varka laughed again as if it was a source of great amusement and not a display of clumsiness from overindulgence. He downed his glass before he slammed it down on the counter. Flins watched with avid eyes as he brought a hand up to his mouth and with a languid tongue, Varka licked the remnants of fire-water from his calloused fingers.

Yes, Flins thought with a smile of his own, one he hid in the high collar of his cape. One can certainly understand the appeal, Grandmaster.

or, varka has sharp teeth and too sweet a scent when it's not overpowered by guilt. flins has sharper teeth and a hunger to match.

    Summary

“Right. So, uh, how much are you asking for this thing? This book of yours.”

Dori leans back in, her grin widening to reveal sharp teeth. “Oh, I thought you’d never ask, Grandmaster!” she purrs, each word as sweet as honey taken straight from the comb. “Why, it’s only fifty thousand mora.”

Varka doesn’t quite choke on his own saliva, but it’s a close thing. “Fifty what now?”

“Oh, don’t be like that,” Dori scolds with a shake of her head. “Anyone else would be asking for much more – it’s not every day you stumble upon a book this old and this useful too! A guide to courting for, ah, individuals specific to Nod-Krai and Snezhnaya? It’s practically a trove of information, Sir Varka! Really now, it’s only because you’re my most loyal, most esteemed, most valuable customer that I can afford naming such a low price.”

Or: Varka gets swindled into buying a Fae courting guide, written by a human for other humans. He's also forced to come to terms with his own feelings regarding a certain Lightkeeper (who might or might not be Fae). Shenanigans ensue as he attempts to follow this dubious yet somehow effective guide to the very end.
