Katsuki's on his feet in a blink, grabbing the extra dagger tucked in against his leg and gripping it tight. In the quiet of the clearing, the glimpses he'd caught in pieces rearrange themselves into a creature shaped like a human, with scale-covered skin along the forearms and thighs, talons where nails should have been, bat-like wings sprouting from between shoulder blades and a forked tail thumping the ground.

It goes much better (and much worse) than either of them expect.
