"Not that you actually care about being out of here."
Jax looked at Pomni, considering her words before stepping toward the door. An exit, they said. He hadn't believed a word of it until Pomni said it was true. To be honest, she was the only one he could trust at the moment. And if they were going to exit this place, he wasn't leaving her behind. Of course he wasn't. He had been so close to abstraction, and she had just... saved him? Saving lives without even realizing it. How cute, right?
"What would be the point of this place if you were going to be out there?"
He held his hand out to Pomni, his foot mere inches from the threshold. Pomni's eyes were already filled with tears. She smiled, took his hand, and stepped forward with him.
Right after that, their dreams were shattered.

It's been a few weeks since Caine had returned and things had seemed to shift back into routine, although of course, the way things functioned were a lot different now. The main point though was everything way okay, this was a happy ending.
