Back in the dim dark days of season 1, I wondered about who Axel's mom could have been. And... look, there is a lot of stuff about how he didn't have a responsible adult realize there was a problem when he started getting letters from a serial killer! And I 100% get how easy it is to be angry about that, too.
And yet, at least one of my models of his personality runs with the idea that he had a good parent for a while, even if it was a good parent in a bad situation. So.
This thing, written down because it's been in my head for literally years now and why not.

Axel Walker's time in Iron Heights, and his interactions with the Rogues after he escapes and goes looking for a mysteriously-missing, oddly-behaving James Jesse.
Largely occurs between S2 and S3 of The Flash, although Axel's time in Iron Heights predates that. Setting presumes that the Flash is not present, partly because he left to go start Flashpoint and partly because I'm more interested in writing about the Rogues than about him.

Canon-compatible up until the S2 episode "Flash Back" (and possibly after it, too; really, the writers did not give us nearly enough on exactly what his relationship with Team Flash was, only that in the absence of Harrison Wells he wasn't angry at them and he had an interest in making sure that Time Wraiths weren't following the Flash around).
