    Summary

With a heavy sigh, Kaveh buried his face in his pillow. All of his romantic ideals, as usual, were quashed by the one man he actually yearned for such affections from - a marriage for the sake of fucking tax deductions.

Though it made sense in a cold, rational way, such a logical and disinterested proposal for Kaveh to willingly sacrifice his heart for nothing more than mora cut deep into his chest. And worst of all... Alhaitham was unaware that Kaveh’s heart could never even belong to anyone but him - that he was already the sole benefactor of Kaveh’s silent longing, having stolen Kaveh’s heart against his will long ago.

Kaveh curled around his pillow as if the soft cotton of his pillowcase could offer a reprieve from the turmoil churning deep in his stomach. He’d long since made peace with his unrequited love for Alhaitham, resigning himself to a lifetime of suppressed yearning - but this? This was torture, plain and simple, demanding mental gymnastics that Kaveh wasn’t confident he was flexible enough to contort himself into.

    Summary

Kaveh sighed. “Of course you’d think kissing is mechanical. You haven’t experienced it.”
Alhaitham looked up from his book to level Kaveh with as unimpressed of a stare as he could muster. “Of course I haven’t experienced it. It’s not like anybody wants to kiss me.”
“You…” Kaveh frowned. “You really believe that?”
Alhaitham rolled his eyes. “Obviously. Nobody likes me, much less enough to kiss me.”
    “That’s not true."

Alhaitham doesn’t know a lot about kissing, or touching, or sex. Somehow, it becomes Kaveh’s job to teach him.

    Summary

Lord Kusanali was safe. Azar was exiled, Cyno and the Traveler were bouncing around Sumeru finishing off the remaining Fatui hanging around, and Tighnari had recovered from his injury. On paper, everything was going well.
So why was Alhaitham shaking as he attempted to unlock his front door for the first time in weeks?

In the vulnerability of injury and exhaustion, Alhaitham can’t quite find the strength to deal with his emotions and spirals.

    Summary

Kaveh shifts in his seat, and he raises his chin as if to look at Al-Haitham from another angle. This seems unnecessary. Then again, Kaveh seems to involve himself in many unnecessary things.

“Well then, who did you piss off today, to the point of limping all the way back home?”

The answer is, many people. Al-Haitham doesn’t really care about this, but he might care a little more if the person getting aggravated is Kaveh. The reactions that Al-Haitham can get out of his roommate have always been a little too entertaining.

Kaveh looks unconvinced, “And how was something like this not preventable by someone like you?”

“... I was reading on the walk home.”

Kaveh’s eyes narrow, and the amusement that slips across his face is not lost on Al-Haitham. The small smile on his face is a bit threatening, in a way that Al-Haitham can’t quite explain.

“I see. So the feeble scholar finally lives up to his self-proclaimed title.”

Al-Haitham deals with an injury, and Kaveh deals with Al-Haitham.

    Summary

"Mr. Kaveh. There has been a major accident involving Grand Scribe Alhaitham.”

“Wait, what? Why are you contacting me about this?”

Kaveh couldn’t understand how any of this had to do with him. The two haven’t spoken to each other in years. He was worried, yes, but an accident? Alhaitham doesn’t get into accidents. He wouldn’t put himself into a situation like that.

“We checked his hospital records and you were listed as his emergency contact.”

    ----
Ten years after their fallout, Kaveh is reunited with Alhaitham, except not in the way he expects.
