Summary
After accidentally revealing himself as half-human, half-monster, Micah finds himself cast out of Sharance by the people he thought were his friends.
With nowhere else to go, he settles in the desert settlement. Knowing that if his secret gets out again, he'll be thrown out of the settlement, Micah fears getting close to Kuruna, Ondorus, and Zaid. In order to avoid building friendships, Micah distances himself by spending much of his time in the desert until he can find a way for other lands, where he might be accepted for who he is.
Meanwhile, when the Sharance Tree starts to sicken, blame quickly falls on Micah. Gaius and Raven, the only two who seem to understand that the townspeople's cruelty to Micah is hurting their precious tree, try to figure out how to fix it.
