“You would do anything for all of them.” Sunday says. Says, not asks. Like it's factual.
“Yes.” Dan Heng responds, as though there is nothing more to say.
“And for him. I had sometimes presumed my devotion to my cause is incomparable to any other, but now I have my doubts.” Sunday muses quietly, and Dan Heng's heart lurches.

Summary
If Kaveh told anyone that his current best friend was a crow, they would call him insane.
Especially as a single man living alone, with barely enough time to do anything fun with his actual human friends outside of overworking himself on commissions, stressing over clients, and crying himself to sleep over the occasional glass of wine.
Kaveh gets courted by a crow and unknowingly finds himself a husband.

Summary
Alhaitham carefully rolls over to grab his notebook and a pencil off the nightstand, making sure not to jostle Kaveh off him. Blearily, he ekes out a few words in the dim light before he can forget them.
“Hayi?” Kaveh rasps. Alhaitham must have woken him by accident.
“Sleep,” is all Alhaitham says, before tossing the notebook back onto the table. It’s too early for this, and Kaveh is comfortable and warm. He turns back over to face Kaveh and presses his forehead into Kaveh’s side, settling back under his arm.
Or: Alhaitham tackles love poetry.

Summary
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kaveh says back. He raises an arm to push him out of the way, so that he can gather up his supplies from the desk, but Alhaitham’s reflexes are too quick.
He catches Kaveh’s hand with his own, snatching it out of the air like a crystalfly. Eagle eyes zero in on the way it elicits a flinch out of him.
A beat passes, and Kaveh foolishly hopes that Alhaitham will ignore it, but of course, fate would never allow him to be so lucky.

Summary
Kaveh wanted to be held.
His mind inadvertently wandered to a certain Scribe, but Kaveh didn't want to think about asking him. That would be humiliating, and he didn't particularly feel like showing his roommate that vulnerable and pathetic side of him.
And yet.
