He looks like hell.
It's a wretched thought, considering all that's transpired the last few hours, and considering he still looks better than a majority of men look on their best days, but all the same. His hair is a tangled mess, bits of leaves and twigs twisted and snarled into the curled mass; his face is dirty and appears to have some small cuts, undoubtedly from the heavy winds casting debris about as he trudged around in the dark saving her sister and searching for Monica; and the dark smudges under his eyes, and the tear tracks beneath them, are the most telling. Every step he takes into the kitchen is heavy, like he carries the weight of the entire world on his shoulders; Atlas reborn in the heart of the Cotswolds.
She wants to reach for him but hesitates; is that what he wants?
The morning after the great storm, after the shocking loss, Taggie and Rupert are left alone in The Priory kitchen.
