“What is it going to take?” she asked, frustrated by his flat refusal. There was no reason for either of them to remain. Keeping him distracted in this manner was a very temporary solution, and continuing this charade would cost her more than it would cost him in the end, if she was too tired to fight come the morning.
“Give me tonight,” he bid her, soft and pleading, and clenched a handful of her gown in his fist, dragging it higher up her legs. “One night with you.”
