Summary
It was bad enough that Lister read other people’s personal journals out in the open.
But to sneak up on a guy and read over his shoulder was a step too far.
“You love me?” Lister exclaims loudly, his eyes widening in surprise.

Summary
“I was going to take you up to the observation dome, but I guess there isn’t any point in keeping you waiting.” Lister agreed. “It’s been wearin’ a hole in me pocket anyway.”
“Lister? What are you doing?” Rimmer stammered, turning deep red in contrast to his shiny blue holo-uniform.
Ignoring him, Lister pulled the box from his trouser pocket and held it up. “It's a holo-ring.” He explained, opening the box and showing it to Rimmer. “It’s made for holograms.”
The ring shone and flickered as Lister held it out towards Rimmer.
“Marry me, Rimmer.” He said simply.

Summary
“You’re up early.”
In the half light, he can hear more than see Rimmer startle, the slight creak of his seat and the shuffling of his feet against the floor. He turns slightly, the light catching the silver streaks in his hair, and looks over his shoulder at Lister, hanging back in the doorway of their bunkroom.

After thirty-five years, Lister decides it's time to come clean.

Rimster Week 2026: Day 2 ~
Aceiverse/ArgumentRimmer’s face hardened. “Lister, you’re being childish.”
“Me?” Lister scoffed. “I’m not the one who starts crying the second things get a bit out of order!”
“That is beside the point!”
“No, the point,” Lister snapped, turning on him fully now, “is that I’m sick of you! Sick of your whining, your bossing everyone around, your stupid smegging little comments all the time about anything I do-”
“As if I’m not sick of living with a degenerate who thinks it’s okay to just leave crumbs all over the floor and put his bare feet up on tables? You think this is any easier for me?” Rimmer threw his hands in the air. “You think that living with you is the pride and joy of my existence? You think I’m happy here?!”
“Then maybe you should’ve stayed dead!”
Rimmer and Lister are arguing. Lister accidentally goes too far and Rimmer retaliates by shutting himself off. Lister learns that his life isn't quite complete without Rimmer there.

Summary
It's been twenty-one days, three hours and thirty-six minutes since Rimmer became the owner of a pair of matching engagement rings. Since then he's been biding his time waiting for the perfect moment to ask Lister the question he so desperately wants to ask.
The path to that perfect moment, as it transpires, is anything but easy.

Summary
His bunkroom on board Red Dwarf is vastly smaller than any sleeping quarters he’s lived in up until now.
It's compact, lacking space in a way that most people would find inconvenient, and coloured in a dull shade of ocean grey that makes the whole room appear somehow even more cramped than it actually is.
It's drab, clinical, positively depressing and, as far as Arnold Judas Rimmer is concerned, absolutely perfect.
___
A look at Rimmer through the places he's called "home" over the years, and what exactly calling somewhere "home" means to him.
