And it was different, because it was never about Till living in the first place. If he were to die right then on that dark stage, still staring at Ivan’s cooling body, Ivan would have been fine with it. Till’s soul would’ve joined his and Sua’s, trapped on the very same stage, but at least they would be together. And Ivan would be happy, because it was never about sacrifice or giving Till a chance; rather because Ivan, selfish, selfish Ivan, didn’t want to be the one that had to live.
It was about himself the entire time, and his insatiable desire to be the first of them to go.

He's dead.
As if the thought just now struck him, a horrible wave of grief washed over him, dowsing him where he stood. It was as if he was back on that mountain eight years ago, sorrow new and fresh in his chest. An awful, desperate longing lodged itself into the tremble of his hands. Arthur Morgan is dead, and it hurts just as much as it did the first time.

“Let's just - let's just get home,” Arthur says, grabbing his hat from where it fell off in the shootout. He reaches into his satchel and pulls out his lasso, tying it into a makeshift bridle and slipping it over Taqqiq's face. She snorts, blowing hot air onto his neck as he leans to place it over her ears and under her throat. He grabs the rest of the rope and slings it over her neck as reins. He pats her cheek, and she nips at his forearm softly.
“Just for today girl,” he assures, and the telltale squeak of leather allows him to know that John and Javier are already mounted.
He gives her one last pat and moves to hoist himself up, but he falters. Quickly, he turns his head back towards Taqqiq's, confused.
Were her eyes always that light of a brown?

‘‘I used to think Fullmetal was a crude nod at your prosthetics…’’
Roy Mustang’s words were laced with a thoughtful hum, and Edward tried not to feel hurt by the misassumption. Many heard his title and assumed it came down to his automail arm and leg. Ed had just hoped the Colonel – after everything – would’ve been different; that Mustang would’ve looked past Edward’s ill-fitting uniform and cripplingly-heavy automail and only see him as a person.
‘‘But,’’ Mustang continued, pensive, ‘‘I think they spelled your title wrong. You’re not Fullmetal, you should be Fullmettle. As in, you are full of mettle.’’
Edward blinked, utterly baffled.
‘‘Mettle, kid. M-E-T-T-L-E.’’
Mustang spelled it out for him. Literally. A genuine smile tugged at the Colonel’s lips as he rumbled out a fleeting chuckle, affectionately sweeping a hand over the top of Edward's golden crown. The boy's throat constricted as an annoying warm blur suddenly invaded his vision. He had experienced more kind words and actions under this man’s brief command than he had experienced in a long, long time.
It was just a shame that it was only a temporary arrangement.

Summary
Stumbling across the sandy beach, Abbacchio grips his burning, leathery abdomen, and curses himself for taking so long to recover. Having someone violently punch the organs out of his body is not something he ever wanted to experience. Neither is watching from seemingly outside of his own body as a child he met a few days ago frantically makes new organs out of pebbles.
Leone has found he rarely gets what he wants.
Left behind on Sardinia, Abbacchio races desperately to meet with the rest of the gang before anybody gets hurt. The trip back to Naples, however, doesn't go as planned. Navigating the things that happen to him, Abbacchio finds himself wrapped up in something he never wanted in the first place.
