Then, a cry tears through his ears. Wordless, primal, enraged, pained, stripped of joy and humor. But by the damned Titans, it's alive, like nothing else in Strife's hell. He is alive. Phainon is alive. But he has not ascended. Mydei can mourn that when Phainon is free.
Mydei rescues Phainon from Strife's trial. They rescue each other from its aftermath, as best as they can.

I dreamt that I lost you. I dreamt that I couldn’t let you go, so I let go of myself instead.”
“You didn’t lose me,” says Suguru quietly, even though he did, they both did, heart clenching in his chest; he wonders if Satoru can hear it, how his pulse stutters at their closeness, at the raw words spilling from lips glossed with water. “I’m right here, Satoru.”
