Despite repeated replication attempts, no reliable strategy for emotional neutrality was found. The data strongly support the hypothesis that Subject Buckley is hazardous to academic composure. Eddie held his hands up, admitting defeat. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and clicked on the clock app, setting up a timer for 10 seconds.
“Alright, Buckley—“ He held up the phone to show Buck the timer. “—whenever you’re ready. Try not to go all Statue of Liberty on me this time.”

Summary
Eddie’s hand is flat against Buck’s pec, his thumb barely a few inches away from one of his nipples, and Buck cannot steer his eyes away from it. Not until Eddie speaks again, his voice breathless and low, something Buck barely even registers, but it’s just the fact that he hears Eddie that pulls his attention to him. Buck’s eyes snap up, lock with the brown of Eddie’s.
Eddie, who is, unsurprisingly, already watching him.
He’s so fucking hot.
The air inside the room is thick. It smells like sex, smells like desire, smells like orgasms on the brink of exploding out of their bodies. Buck hasn’t been to many shoots where the tension had been so strong, intense enough to make everybody feel fuzzy with it. It’s like everything is moving in slow motion.

"Eddie?" Shannon picks up on the fourth ring. "Everything okay?"
"I kissed a man," he says.
The silence on the other end stretches for nine thousand years. Eddie can hear Shannon breathing. He can hear his own heartbeat slamming against his ribs. He stares at the apartment building through his windshield, at the lit window on the fourth floor that might belong to E. Buckley, and waits for his ex-wife to say literally anything at all.
"You what?"
"I kissed a man, Shannon. Just now. I was delivering food and he opened the door and I just— I kissed him. On the mouth. And I don't know why."
Another silence. Then a sound Eddie recognizes with dawning horror as Shannon trying very, very hard to suppress a laugh.
"Shannon."
"I'm processing."
"You're laughing."
"I'm processing." She fails spectacularly. "I'm sorry, I just— you kissed a man? Edmundo Diaz? The same Edmundo Diaz who wouldn't watch Brokeback Mountain with me because it made him 'uncomfortable'?"
"It did make me uncomfortable!"
"Yeah, Eddie, I'm starting to understand why."
