He’d let down his guard, finally wanted to trust someone with this, because it was getting too much. He was usually fine with it, but everything had been building up and bothering him more and more for a while now. Everything reminded him of it; Lusamine’s eyes— green, not gray, but still— and that fiery, icy, hot and cold gaze they held, the same instability they held, when they looked into his eyes, they were the same. Her sickly-sweet voice, her interest in Nebby, they were the same. And when he looked into Burnet’s green-gray eyes, even when they were kind, loving, looking on him, it didn’t help that in the darkness they looked the same as hers. The way they all looked at him when he met Tapu Koko immediately after he getting there, and the weird look in their eyes when he pulled off his super-powered Z-move. It was all too much and all too similar to her. To him.
In other words, Ash is Not Having a Good Time™ and in an impulsive decision blocks Kukui and runs away.

Summary
The smile grew, and Ash shifted to gather Pikachu up in his arms, tight and warm and fond. “Oh, buddy, you know I love you, right?”
Ash was silly, Pikachu remarked, because of course he knew, and of course he loved Ash back too. They pulled out the malasadas, eating them slowly, savoring the taste, as the breeze ruffled Ash’s hair and Pikachu’s fur. “It really is a beautiful day, huh? Like the universe is smiling down on us.”
It better be, Pikachu grumbled, only feigning annoyance. You’ve saved it enough times.
“Pikachu,” he admonished, only feigning chagrin, “you know we don’t do that for recognition.”
We should still get it, though, went unsaid, but Pikachu’s tail was flicking a little, miffed.
Ash looked up at the clouds, falling back. “We sure have been at it for a long time, haven’t we buddy?”

During Ash's adventures in Alola, events turn much different than planned. Old friends return, a found family is formed, old abilities come to light and Ash must face the pain of his past while facing the biggest threat yet. But this time, he had Burnet and Kukui, all of his pokemon with him, his friends, Pikachu and Greninja, plus new friends and pokemon to support him. Oh, and Team Rocket is there too, as usual.
Man... He really wanted to flip off Arceus for this. He could probably get away with it too... He was sick of being his Chosen One.

It - makes her think of her mom, actually. And that thought makes her eyes just the tiniest bit misty, but she tries to blink past it and examine the thought further. It makes her think of holding her mother’s weak hand. It makes her think of when her dad said “Mommy’s not coming back, sweetie.” It makes her think of how mad she was, at first. Because her mom was always supposed to come back. Parents are supposed to come back.
And then she thinks about how much she doesn’t know about Ash, really. He talks a lot about his adventures, but he doesn’t always say a lot, not really. It’s all about battles, and pokemon, and maybe the occasional reference to a league or Brock’s cooking or something else. But it’s never about his family, or all the stuff that happened between the battles, or the things Brock and Misty referenced offhandedly. Bigger things.
Not that it’s her place to know, Mallow scolds herself.
But, it’s just…the way he said it. They’re supposed to come back. Why aren’t they coming back?
It’s not Mallow’s place to know. So she won’t ask.
But she’ll think about it, all the same.

What if Ash's adventures actually affected how he lived? What if Giratina got lonely and showed up to play every once in a while? What if he had Cynthia's number? What if some old friends came around to hang out or stay? What if Ash was done with Arceus's shit? What if Ash was tired was saving the world and just wanted to relax and enjoy Alola, but legendaries just kept showing up and wanted to hang out? What if Kukui had a heart attack every time a legendary showed up looking for Ash?
That's what I hope to answer! This is all self-indulgent chaos that has no real story other than following Ash's time in Alola. Pretty much every chapter is going to be something that I wish happened, like Ash getting a legendary, meeting some old friends, or telling the Alola Class about some of his adventures.
Update: Now with more emotion and direction!Update: Currently undergoing a severe rewrite due to my want for a more focused and better written work.

Professor Kukui hasn't done anything wrong yet, and he seems nice. And pikapi likes going to school, it knows he didn't before now. And this school does seem like fun, not like the other pokemon schools they've been to, all about facts and figures. This one seems to truly take in the wide scope that is battling. With actual classes about practical battling, and not one person has told Ash that he's battling wrong, like many other places. They all seem to think Ash battles, and is, strange, but he gets results so no one cares.
And alola is so warm, and happy. The people seem genuinely nice, and Pikachu and Ash fit in perfectly in the warmth that is alola. If Pikachu didn't know better he would have assumed Ash was from alola, considering how their raising of pokemon is so similar to Ash, nearly opposite of Kanto’s attitude.
Not one person has asked about why Pikachu is not in a pokeball! And that's because pokemon are usually let out of their pokeball at all times!
Ash is judged a lot less here, and Pikachu is glad for it.or

What happens when people start to connect the trail of legends and breadcrumb stories he left as he travelled the world? How does he deal with the increasing accusations of the Alolan League being rigged, and of Ash hiding big secrets from the public?
Ie. Cannon divergence where there’s actual consequences to Ash being a champion, where he travels to old regions and learns what it’s like to be a public figure and a role model.
