Clark blinks in surprise before embarrassment spreads through him. “What? What are you talking about?”
Or, Bruce likes Clark and can't work up enough courage to flirt with Clark which leads to Clark thinking his love is unrequited. Thank god Dick is there to talk some sense into them and get the ball rolling.
