I closed my eyes, there were unshed tears there, I had drank too much, it had to be that. “Please, let me go.”
He laughed just the once, “Never I’m afraid, but I will take you to your rooms.”
Groaning “I already told Olaf or whoever it was that I didn’t want company to my rooms.”
“I’m not Olaf or whoever.” His voice was back to happy and eager. I couldn’t keep up with him.
“I still don’t need help.” Then why did I still let him escort me?
“And if those Sisters of yours aren’t in? If they’ve found other beds for the night? Who’s to get you out of your pretty dress.”
“Not you.” Part of me wanted to beg for it to be him.
