Summary
“The strongest is never strong enough to be always the master unless he transforms strength into right, and obedience into duty…
The moment it becomes possible to disobey with impunity, it becomes possible to disobey legitimately. And because the strongest are always in the right, the only thing that matters is to work to become the strongest.”
Will Byers decided at eight years old that should any of his family be reaped, he would volunteer in their place—when it happens ten years later, he keeps his word. It’s his job to protect them, besides, it’s commonplace in District 4, where a fight breaks out every year trying to reach the podium. His plan, like everyone else’s, is to come back home. Until he’s asked to die.
Mike Wheeler wants to die. It’s not an open secret as much as it is a subtle fact, but he never expects it to be in the 124th Hunger Games. Being from 8, he’s little more than an already starving kid with a faulty heart, but when Holly’s name is drawn, he knows he’s got his wish: an easy way out, no fault of his own. Only, he cares too much.

Summary
"Sullivan's pace quickened as he strode down the halls of the lab in the Hellish dimension, the last thirty minutes stuck in his mind on a loop. Some trouble makers breaking into the base, a swarm of those vile undead monsters, a demon shooting his hand through the face of Ramirez-
And a boy, snapping the limbs of one of those monsters without even breaking a sweat- a brand new variable that Sullivan hadn’t predicted discovering."

When Joyce, Mike, and Will leave the MAC-Z after discovering Will's powers, they assume that the only enemy they have left to deal with is Vecna. However, they fail to notice that Lieutenant Jack Sullivan wasn't killed in the massacre- and that he saw Will using his newfound powers. Once Sullivan informs Dr. Kay, it doesn't take too long for the military to set their sights on a new target, one that has powers that they would love to get their hands on...

Summary
“And why come back when so many are leaving Hawkins?”
Will slowed without meaning to. The leaves under his shoes crackled. “I–”
What should he tell this stranger that wouldn’t reveal the fact that his sister had superpowers and might actually be the only key to save this entire town from a monstrous maniac?
“Well, everyone I know is here,” he murmured. “I couldn’t… just leave them.”
The man hummed softly, then he lifted his head to scan over the woods, a faint whistle came from his lips, before his gaze landed onto Will again.
“Maybe something here wanted you back.”

Summary
District 12's Will Byers has never claimed to be lucky for a single day of his life, but being reaped for the hunger games twice in a span of five years? That has to be a joke, even for someone as unlucky as he is.
At the very same time, Mike Wheeler from District 1 could not care less if he wins or not. The Games are not terrifying to him, they’re just something he exists for now. He doesn’t want to die, sure, but living in such a boring, repetitive world doesn’t mean much to him anyways.
Really, neither of them expected to find love in this hell on earth.
