She expects to see a mouse, or perhaps a particularly large spider (wouldn’t that be cool!) She expects rapid movement as whatever pest she just unleashed scurries off into the dark corners of the house.
Instead, a red glow blooms from under the angel doll, glinting sanguine against the polished porcelain of the snack tray. A fist sized object, shaped something like a Valentine’s day heart, silently rises into the air.
