“You're weird.” A change in her train of thought made her comment. The being turned his attention to her, halting briefly on painting a small bush of leaves, and tilting his head in what she'd read as curiosity. “You look almost like one of those monsters in horror games.”
There was a moment of silence then, where they stared at each other. Her comment didn't seem to really sink in on him. Maybe he didn't understand her after all.
“I'll call you… Oni.” Her legs hung from the side of the altar, swinging playfully over the water's surface. She wasn't smiling, but was also not quite as upset as she was the other day. “It's short, and monstrous enough. I think it fits you.”

It was a pointless offering. What good was the name of a scholar to a boy in iron shackles? Soon, the boy would procure another wound, and this time, Ratio would not be there to halt the infection. A decade after the IPC declares sovereignty over Sigonia-IV, Dr. Veritas Ratio accompanies Oswaldo Schneider on a diplomatic mission to discuss reparations. Stepping into the wrong door, Ratio expects to find a local liaison. Instead, he finds a bleeding Avgin boy and a circular chessboard.

Aventurine leans against the balcony railing, gold city light catching against the rings on his fingers. “You know,” he says, “most people would’ve requested a different room by now.”
Dr. Ratio looks up from his datapad just long enough to meet his eyes. “Most people,” he replies calmly, “are less tolerable than you.”
For a second, Aventurine forgets how to answer.
Ratio notices that too.
Dr. Ratio and Aventurine are sent by the IPC to Somnus-V, a planet whose economy runs on traded memories and emotion. As they navigate the upper district’s political elite, the two find themselves being constantly monitored in a society built around emotional vulnerability and psychological control. Meanwhile, Aventurine’s growing feelings for Ratio begin complicating a mission that was supposed to remain strictly professional.

Summary
Ratio notices Aventurine hasn't texted him back all day, something that feels incredibly out of character. For someone who lives wrapped in noise and spectacle, the absence of a message feels like a warning he does not yet understand.
Upon recieving a call from Topaz he decides to go check on him, hoping to find him busy with a meeting, complaining about his phone going missing or some elaborate inconvenience dressed up as a joke.
Instead, he finds a testament waiting on a spotless desk, instructions for a future without Aventurine and a single name written beneath every fortune: Dr. Veritas Ratio.

Kakavasha has been with the Adephagia for a short time. Found wandering and given a home, a job, and a purpose aboard the station, all that is asked in return of him is simple work. That, he can do. His days are filled with inventorying their supplies, providing communication outreach to potential allies and visitors, and writing reports as needed. And when he is asked to aid in a potential deal with the Intelligentsia Guild, how is he to refuse?
However, the representative from the guild looks...familiar. Every time Kakavasha looks at him, his head hurts. With the arrival of this representative, the things that are commonplace to the Adephagia Space Station begin falling apart--and all Kakavasha knows is it has something to do with one Veritas Ratio.
