Summary
And of course there is an instant, after that first warm touch of Olly’s lips upon his own, where Qifrey feels a terrible tingling sensation within him and remembers his parasite. Where Qifrey remembers his silverwood, the tyrant that rules his body with an iron fist, and thinks, with a sinking sense of foreboding, that he is risking its awakening and his own impending death with this decision.
And then Olly’s hand flies up to bury itself in Qifrey’s hair. And then Olly’s arm wraps around his waist, and pulls him in flush against Olly’s chest. And then Olly’s tongue sears hotly across the seam of Qifrey’s lips, and Qifrey parts them for Olly’s entrance with a moan.
I love you, he thinks, and he remembers who the real tyrant is. The silverwood may one day take Qifrey’s body, but there's only one being in the world who rules his heart.

Summary
Olruggio comes home from a business trip, visibly troubled. Qifrey, with expensive wine in hand, is determined to get to the bottom of what's upsetting his very best friend. Unfortunately for both of them, the sharing of Olruggio's experience in the Great Hall may have more consequences for the two of them than he could have possibly thought of.
Or, Olruggio recieves an offer for an arranged marriage. Qifrey's first instinct is to clutch at his skirts and beg him to stay in their atelier forever, but the Silverwood has other plans...

Beldaruit and Qifrey - and so naturally also Olruggio - over the years in the Great Hall. Also, for any interested parties, the middle scene is Qifrey coming home after the Tower of Tomes and all that entails. If that means nothing to you, I would not read this.

“Exactly.” Beldaruit sounds softer when he says, “kisses are a sign that two people are very close, or are interested in becoming very close. A parent might kiss their child on the head to soothe them, or the cheek to make them laugh. A friend, too, might kiss a cheek as a sign of affection.”
“Oh, so like Olly?” Qifrey brightens a little. It doesn’t sound so bad being that close to Olly, although the lips bit still sounds pretty disgusting.

Qifrey was foolish to think that he could be rid of Olruggio. Like the stars whose lights travel across the vast oceans of the universe to decorate the night sky, they are too bright to dim. Too constant to ignore. Too beautiful to forget.
He's the star that the silverwood within him is forever searching for. The smile that he lets himself dream about. The name whose mere mention is enough to grasp his attention, so fully and involuntarily, like a starved man to promise of food.
It was inevitable that he should overhear; even when whispered in hushed, excited tones, huddled together. "Did you hear? Olruggio of the Torch is to be wed!"

There was a goose. A real, live goose. One with black feathers. All right. That was odd. Qifrey blinked. The bird didn’t move. Admittedly, this situation was quite unprecedented, but he wasn’t anything if not accommodating to guests in his home.
“Oh. Hello there.” He said kindly. Animals weren’t stupid, they knew when a person meant them no harm, and Qifrey was anything but a threat. He tilted his head then hummed, “How’d you get in here? I don’t mind the company for a little while since my usual late-night companion is off on a trip.” He motioned towards the magical device behind himself. “Tea?”
All of a sudden it was like a switch flipped. The goose totally freaked out. It honked wildly and charged Qifrey. He yelped in surprise and instinctively ran. Round and round the table he went, with the bird so hot on his heels, he swore he felt its beak barely scrape the back of his leg once or twice.
It took his brain a little bit longer than it probably should’ve to remember that he was a witch. There was no need for a chase! He reached into his robes and removed his palm quire of pre-drawn magic circles. He knew just the one that’d work right now, where was it – ah!

Summary
Qifrey did his best to conceal his laughter. His friend looked so lost, it was like his brain had gotten damped with all the wine and started to work slower. Watching drunk Olruggio try to connect two thoughts together felt like watching a dog trying to catch his own tail.
"Ah, well," He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. "She was the one who gave me those bags of fruit. As a tip, y' know. She said they were in season."
"They were delicious." He conceded his friend. "She sounds like a wonderful lady."
"Yeah, she was." He sighed, trying to pour himself more wine only to find out the bottle was already empty. "Hey, I'd make a good husband, don't you think?"
The silverwood must have begun to mess with his hearing too.
In the middle of a drinking session with his friend, Olruggio asks an unexpected question. Sadly, Qifrey knows the answer to it.

Ah, just expenses? "Not much," Olruggio says, stepping around the counter to lean against Qifrey's side, arm wrapping around his waist comfortably. "I got a good deal."
Qifrey relaxes some. He turns his face to nuzzle against Olruggio's neck and he leans his head back in response, giving more room for Qifrey to press against his pulse.
"Oh dear," Qifrey sighs, turning his face to rub his cheek against Olruggio's cloak. "I'm afraid I have a secret to tell you."
