Summary
In my story Denied, I introduced original characters Celeste, a widow, and mother of her five-year old daughter Marie, who (as readers of that story may recall) was positively smitten with D’Artagnan. Due to his station in life, D’Artagnan was a temporary neighbor to the two, living in a run-down building.
While it is not necessary to read Denied before this new story, it does provide some backstory into D’Artagnan’s relationship with Celeste and Marie.
