Now that Buck knows how his life is with Eddie in it, he doesn't want to go back to when he didn't know Eddie. Buck doesn't want to know what it would mean for him to lose his best friend and partner, even though there's a huge chance of that happening in their line of duty.
There's no one who can replace Eddie Diaz.
Or in which Buck wakes up half-naked next to his best friend and ends up facing hidden feelings he'd rather keep undiscovered.

Summary
“You cannot mean what I think you mean,” Eddie says.
“For old time’s sake!” Buck says. “To remember how it all started.” He kisses Eddie’s hand again.
Don't worry, this definitely won't get out of hand.

Summary
Eddie really liked Tommy.
If asked, he could give a long list of reasons why.
Tommy was an army guy, like Eddie himself, they had a lot of shared experiences.
Tommy was witty, he always had a one liner ready to throw out.
Tommy was into MMA, and muay thai, and he could fly Eddie to games.
Tommy would play pickup with him even when Buck always said no.
Tommy was good with Christopher. He had an easy charm with Eddie’s preteen son, and he had lots of stories that Christopher couldn’t quite get enough of.
And, the most important reason, Tommy had been a huge part of the reason Athena and Bobby had survived.
The problem was… Eddie kind of couldn’t fucking stand Tommy.
OR -
Eddie goes through the stages of grief watching Buck and Tommy together and gets progressively more unhinged as his jealousy builds. No bashing of Marisol or Tommy in this, they're just not right for Eddie and Buck.

Summary
“Hey,” Evan said, raising his voice a little to be heard through the open window. “Why don't you send me a letter sometime? A little snail mail. You know my address, yeah?”
Eddie laughed, throwing his head back, and waved him away. Evan would probably never see Eddie again, as much as he wished he would. What were the chances he'd actually write? Evan had been half joking, and no one even sent letters nowadays.
Three weeks later, Evan opened his mailbox. Sitting there, mixed in with the bills and flyers, was a lightly crumpled envelope with an Army Post Office return address.
