Summary
Aymeric notices something is off fairly quickly.
Estinien becomes quieter than usual, more distant. His eyes lose their shine, his smile is gone. He practically stops speaking, his mind wandering to places Aymeric cannot follow. There's an air of anxiety and nervousness around him, something that stops him from eating and getting a full-night sleep, that makes him either lie wide awake or wake up with a panicked gasp. It’s like a dark shadow looms over Estinien, not leaving him for a single moment.

Summary
“I cannot do this!” He exclaims, throwing his hands in the air as he stomps away from Aymeric. “I just—I just—no, forget about it, ‘Meric, I’ll only embarrass myself and more importantly, I’ll embarrass you. You’ll be the laugh of the whole school and—”
He grits his teeth as his shoulders slump. He turns to leave but Aymeric grabs his hand, pulls him close and hugs him tightly. After a moment of silence disturbed only by a different song playing in the background, Aymeric places a kiss on Estinien’s forehead and puts a bit of distance between them, cupping Estinien’s cheeks.
He makes sure Estinien looks at him and only then asks, “Do you trust me?”
The question leaves Estinien dumbfounded, eyes wide and filled with disbelief. Aymeric knows very well the question might be unfair because he’s aware Estinien trusts him with his life, but he just needs him to calm down and stop the overdrive mode his mind is currently in.
“Do you trust me, ‘Tinien?” He repeats, looking at him intently.
“What the fuck? What kind of question is that, Borel?” Estinien snaps. “Of fucking course I trust you, you—”
“Then let’s give it another go, and this time simply follow.”

Summary
“Aym, wake up.” When there’s no reaction, he tries again, with a bit more force. “Hey, sleeping beauty. You need to take your meds.”
Aymeric’s eyes snap open as he startles, looking at Estinien, completely disoriented.
“I’m so sorry. You’re safe, it’s just me.” Estinien touches Aymeric’s hair to calm him down; it’s wet and a bit oily but he doesn’t care.
“‘Tinien...” Aymeric’s voice is quiet, weak and croaky. It’s obvious he has troubles with focus and staying awake, as his eyes flutter closed moments later.
“I know it’s difficult but stay with me for a couple of minutes,” Estinien asks, getting only a murmur back that can mean nothing and everything at the same time.
He helps Aymeric sit, propping him up carefully. He’s barely conscious and his muscles are lax, leaning on Estinien immediately, his whole body drenched in sweat.
“Be a good boy and take your meds for me?”

Summary
Aymeric comes back to the kitchen, takes Estinien’s hand and laces their fingers as he drags him out of the room. Once in the living room, he pulls Estinien close and starts swaying with him, still humming. Estinien chuckles, bemused.
“You’re in an awfully good mood today,” he says. He places his hands on Aymeric’s sides and strokes them.
Aymeric shivers.
“Is it a bad thing?”
“Not at all. I’m just curious. Cabbage rolls, dancing and singing, our favorite wine… Is there any reason?”
“You’re the reason,” says Aymeric and kisses him on the neck, just below his ear.

Estinien nods. “It’s your birthday, ‘Meric. What do you want? If I can give it to you, I will.”
Aymeric moves closer and makes their eyes meet. “Can you say my name, please?”
