Oh Christ. She knows that voice and begins looking around frantically to try and avoid the no doubt awkward and painful interaction that will follow. Maybe she can hightail it out of here before he approaches. God. If she were near the freezer section, she’d dive headfirst into the ice cream even if it would make her a walking talking cliché.
“Betty? Is that you?”
Too late. The voice is right behind her now and she has no choice but to turn around.
