“My office…NOW!” Hades practically dragged Azem down the hall and slammed the door behind them once they entered his private office.
“You have to stop being so reckless! Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?!” He tossed his mask on the desk, a sign that he wasn't speaking as Emet-Selch, her colleague, but as Hades, her childhood friend.
Azem did likewise. “I think I have a better grasp of the dangers than even you, Hades.” Her tone was sharp and reproving. “I knew the dangers even before Venat nominated me.”
Hades sighed. His hands were damp where he clenched them at his sides from nerves, but he was committed to the course now, so he would not be deterred. “Do you have any idea how worried I was, Hestia?” His voice was harsh, seething with barely contained emotion.
Hestia placed a fist on her hip and gave him an almost mocking smirk. “Aw, Hades, I didn't know you cared.”
“More than you know, you idiot,” he growled.
Hestia cocked her head in confusion. “Come again?”
Hestia barely had time to process what Hades had said before he had closed the distance between them, kissing her fiercely. "Oh," she thought, "thaaaaat explains a lot, actually."
