He reaches across the desk and squeezes her hand. "The north is the last place our enemies would look for you."
Mikasa remembers rolling her eyes. "You are sending me into the wilderness."
"I'm sending you somewhere safe." His expression softens. "Grisha Jaeger owes me more favors than either of us can count. As long as you are under his protection, no one will touch you."
"You make it sound like I'm a child."
"You are my daughter."
For a brief moment, genuine worry flashes across his face. "Just stay there for a while, Mikasa."

Summary
They had her step into a long, white dress, tying the laces behind her back while another rubbed sweet berry juice over her lips to paint them red. Two others braided white blossoms into her hair so that they formed a pretty crown. When they were finished and Mikasa was allowed to look at her reflection, she’d gasped, exclaiming that she looked like a bride. Her sisters laughed again.
“Well, aren’t you?”

She still hasn’t looked away. She always looks away first. Eren certainly refuses to cede this exchange to her, keeping his eyes on hers. The turmoil in her gaze is even more rampant as her eyes dart over his face, and then abruptly her resolve hardens. Eren has half a mind to ask what the hell has gotten into her when she lifts one small, trembling hand to his cheek and surges forward to kiss him on the mouth.

Summary
After two years of marriage, Eren and Mikasa find themselves slowly losing the spark that once held their relationship together. Eren feels as though he exists only to fulfill his obligations to the Ackerman company, rather than as Mikasa’s husband. Meanwhile, Mikasa carries a burden she refuses to share, allowing the distance between them to grow even further.

Summary
After a couple of weeks in recovery and isolation it’s unanimously decided by the elders of the village that she can stay permanently. There are only two conditions.
The first is that she does not reenter the forest under any circumstances. This is strictly forbidden. Those We Do Not Speak Of reside there.
They are the monsters Eren was talking about.
“Red is the bad color,” she’s told secondly. It’s unsafe to wear, unsafe to eat, and any red wildflowers and berries should be buried as quickly as they bloom. The color red is a bad omen and summons the mysterious They.
With her memory failing more and more day by day and nothing solid to fall back on, Mikasa has no choice but to begrudgingly accept these terms.
