When Adora is taken away, Catra's life changes forever. 10 years later, Adora is an aspiring investigative journalist at Brightmoon Times writing for Glimmer, who she lives with along with their friend Bow. She thinks life is good but doesn't realize what she's missing. On the other hand, Catra has always known what she's missing. She's finally pulling her life together, has a family and band called The Horde, and is getting sober.
When the two meet again, it's not an idyllic fairy tale--it's a mess, and overwhelming, and incredible, but so, so confusing. And it's right. It's always been right.

Nor was it the mismatched eyes or the dark, shoulder length mane that was her hair but the literal cat ears she had and the fact that this girl had short, fine fur covering most of her body was the last thing I needed to see to convince me that there definitely must have been something in that damn pizza.
“Damn it. Hang on, Adora,” I heard before the dizzying sensation of being weightless finally made me pass out.

Adora is the star forward at Bright Moon University who is happy with her normal life hanging with her friends Bow and Glimmer all while trying to keep her GPA up. But her life turns upside down when she's attacked one night by a strange shadow creature and is saved by someone she's never met in her life...and yet her rescuer seems to know her. What if this is it, what if it's meant to be"?After a shared childhood tragedy, Adora had to move away. They promised they'd always be friends, but kids have no control of their environments, and it's hard to stay in contact.
Catra still holds a lot of resentment over it. She really thought Adora would come back. Guess she lied. Whatever, once her name is up in lights, she won't care about any of that anymore.
Adora thinks about Catra almost every day, she wishes she had been able to reach out to Catra after everything, but her circumstances hadn't allowed her to. Eventually, she thought Catra must have forgotten about her. Adora still keeps a piece of Catra with her though, she can't seem to get rid of it.
They're both grown up now, struggling to figure out who they are and what they want from life. All they have of each other are memories.
