Parrot follows the sound before he understands it—rope sighing under strain, fabric whispering against air.
He looks up and stops.
A boy moves above him, alone. Purple hair drifts like it belongs to the sky, pink eyes catching what little light there is when he turns. The silks take him, release him, take him again. He glides as if falling were a choice he has already forgiven. No music. No crowd. Just breath, balance, and trust stretched thin.
“Oh,” Parrot breathes.
The boy drops—too fast—and catches himself a heartbeat before fear. Ankles cross, body folds, unfolds. Every movement is careful, reverent, like he’s learned not to ask the ground for mercy.
“That’s… beautiful,” Parrot whispers, afraid to be louder.
Red and gold fabric blooms around the boy as he spins, dawn licking at the edges of the dark. He looks like fire being handled gently.
Parrot steps closer. “You shouldn’t do that alone,” he says softly. “Someone should see you.”
Above him, the boy stills.
Pink eyes open.
And the silence breaks.
