He's gotten one or two noise complaints for heavy stepping early into the morning when sleep refused to come, and the math in his brain was rolling around too fast to catch and pin down on paper. He hopes there won't be any complaints tonight. He's already a mess as it is.
"You have never made a phone call before?" The voice asks, bemused.

"It's not happening. So, either you let me help you, or I'm finding where your doctor lives and dragging you over there right now." Folding his arms over his chest, Jayce stares down at a frowning Viktor, his lower lip plush and pouting the way it always does when he's annoyed at his partner. Jayce shrugs again. "Your choice."
Viktor's eyes narrow and for a moment, Jayce wonders if perhaps that sharp honey stare is more dangerous than any laser they could ever design, boring into him with the heat of a bright burning star.
"You are a colossal pain in the ass, Jayce Talis."

Jayce pins his prey on his stomach with a boot to the small of his back. The faux wound on his shoulder is all twitching wires and bleeding synthetic fluids and sparking, ungrounded electricity.
Viktor didn’t pull his punches today. He wanted Jayce to take real damage in this fight. He wanted him to suffer. He’s pissed off for some reason other than the countless, fleeting, intangible reasons they’ve both been pissed off at each other for half a decade.

He can’t pop a knot as strong as he used to, and his new ruts feel… remarkably more like what he’s imagined a heat might feel like, now that he really thinks about it.
Maybe spending all his time around Jayce has convinced Viktor’s body to begin a... metamorphosis of some sort.

"Advanced Chemistry," Viktor mumbles, reading the title out as his fingertips dance lightly over the raised letters embossed into the flexible cover, "I didn't realize you read romance."
"I don't," Jayce argues, his tone and posture defensive, but as Viktor raises a skeptical brow in his partner's direction, he seems to realize the error in his words, "Well, not usually."
