Summary
“Right, choose one,” Ruben orders, pushing the vacuum-sealed bag into Niall’s hands. He doesn’t give Niall any space, so Niall turns to the side and holds out the bag to examine his options.
“I still have the one barbell, so let’s use this,” Niall says. He points at one of the barbells in the package; it’s nearly an exact match for the one still sitting in his nipple. Ruben laughs at him.
“Yeah, so you can lose it again? Fat chance. No, you’re getting rings. They stay better. We’ll put a ring in the new one and I’ll swap out your barbell for a ring to match. So, pick a set. Of rings, this time.” Ruben finally shuffles back a step and sits down on the bed, like maybe he’s expecting Niall to need a while to decide.

Summary
For someone who’d never taken anything stronger than a Benadryl, or drank anything more than half a seltzer, Randy was more than familiar with addictions.
That’s what it was. An addiction.
It took him a while to come to terms with what it was, at first. Not just a fixation, or a weird, weird fantasy he couldn’t get over (despite how many times he’s visited the Wikipedia page for Stockholm syndrome.) And, as he later learned was the case with most addicts, he couldn’t believe that was a label he was ascribing onto himself. After years of resisting, of being so, so good at restraining himself from wanting, all it took was one day? One day? A dingy burger shop and a deadbeat thirty-year old were enough for him to relapse back?
⎯
Randy’s dreams didn’t stop after the incident, but they did change.
They’re nicer now—not that the bar was ever high, but not reliving every mistake he’s ever made since the third grade isn’t something he takes for granted. Only, the dreams do revolve around only one person. And, if he’s being honest, it’s getting harder and harder to tell what’s real.

Summary
Looking back, Cooper always expected Novac would end with a bloodbath. Lucy’s plan to earn back his trust, though? That took him by surprise.
Preview:
“I already used you as bait once, remember? Consider us all squared up, doll.”
“We weren’t…on friendly terms then,” shrugged Lucy. “This feels different.”
It felt like something, all right.
“We’re even,” he muttered.
Lucy looked up at him. “Does it feel like we are?”
Cooper paused. Thought about it.
Remembered the last name she shared. And how it felt like pain and regret and hope every single time he looked at her.
“Not even close.”
