Lance scowls. “What?”
“I know,” Keith says. “So, I just… took him.”
Lance rests his arms on the table. “You stole a baby?”
“I stole a baby,” Keith confirms, though he doesn’t sound sorry in the slightest. “I stole a baby, and now, I have no idea how to take care of him. Or even what his name is.”
“You could always wait for him to tell you,” Lance teases, and Keith rolls his eyes.

Summary
It's been seven years since Allura sacrificed herself and Voltron won the war and yet, Lance can't help feeling guilty about it all. There were so many things he could've done differently. Better things he could've said.
So when Lance wakes up in his dorm room at the Garrison, he decides to take this chance and make things right. Save the people he couldn't save before and say the right things. Hell, he might even set up Allura with someone better than him, someone who could protect her better than Lance ever could. Who was going to stop him?

“Careful, these patches are everywhere.” Keith glares at the ground.
Lance’s heart is hammering, mouth clammy as his fingers try not to tremble at the soft touch. Keith’s arm around him makes him feel safe and warm. Lance doesn’t try to say anything, hopes the cold hides his blushing cheeks as he leans a bit into Keith’s side.
Lance can only utter a quiet, “Thank you.”
“Here,” Keith says, “Take my arm.”

They look down at their hands for a moment, fingers twisting together in deep thought. Then they’re pulling their gloves off, revealing pale, half-bruised knuckles of the human variation, and their mask is dissolving, giving way to big blue-purple eyes and an achingly familiar jet-black cowlick. “Who,” says Keith Kogane, in that low-pitched rumble that makes Lance’s stomach roil in the good way—holy fuck—“is this guy you’re trying to get over?”
