Summary
Maybe they'd be able to check.
He seemed warm. Uncomfortably so, A/C cranked up in his room, window fully open too, providing nice sunlight to his very pleased flora. He has talked about liking sunbathing suddenly. He's a little shiny with sweat, but not too bad. Not as bad as Player after taking a good beating from a certain guy with a baseball bat in the desert. Lesson: do not go through a long fight in a desert unless you stab yourself with the Ice Dagger beforehand. They're trying to count how many different plant types show on Brad's skin, memorizing the way the stems merge to skin and make the man next to them look larger and more intimidating.
More attractive, if you asked them politely enough.
Brad's suffering a sudden heatwave in Turitopulis when Player visits. Not his fault trying to beat the heat leads to stupid things.

Summary
Today, he pulled up a chair before even thinking. One motion. One smooth scrape of wood on wood. And suddenly he was sitting less than a foot away, knees almost brushing yours as he sorted through a pile of papers.
You pretended not to notice.
He pretended harder.

Summary
“It was spare,” he muttered under his breath, so low you almost missed it.
You didn’t react. You knew better.“It’s very smooth,” you said instead. “I like it.”
His shoulders twitched.
He absolutely heard that.

Summary
Artful’s gaze drifted, eyes narrowing as though trying to read something beyond your face. He didn’t know—and could never know—what had shaped your calm. He didn’t know that, years ago, you had been a kid who lingered at the edge of the playground, watching him with wide eyes during recess, watching his magic tricks for other children with the kind of admiration that made your chest ache. You had always been too quiet, too small, too careful to step forward. You had never told him you had memorized the way his fingers twitched before a trick, or how his voice would rise like a song when he performed something spectacular. He didn’t have to know. It didn’t matter. That kid was the same person who now watched him calmly, steadily, not needing applause, not needing the spotlight.

Summary
He whirls back toward you.
“Forget it happened.”
You nod once. “Alright.”
He narrows his eyes suspiciously. “…You’re actually going to forget?”
“If you want me to.”
A beat. Something flickers across his expression—confusion, frustration, something softer he can’t process and clearly wishes he didn’t feel.
“…Good,” he mutters. “Fine. Yes. Do that.”
