Summary
Doctor Leonard McCoy and Captain Christopher Pike both have their share of struggles. Their first meeting should have gone very differently than it did. McCoy was looking for one thing but ended up finding something completely unexpected. At their second meeting, Doctor McCoy saves Captain Pike's life, although Pike is unconscious at the time. By the time they meet on the Enterprise, they can't ignore the undeniable connection between them. Could it be a soul bond? As far as either of them knew, soul bonds weren't supposed to happen the way this one did.
After a while, they began to wonder if there was a larger conspiracy that was trying to keep them apart.

Spock arranges for Doctor Leonard McCoy to do a life-saving procedure after Fleet Captain Christopher Pike is severely injured when the baffle plate ruptures during a cadet training inspection. Eighteen months later, Pike and McCoy meet again, and Pike is still recovering from the accident and in varying degrees of pain.
The bond that spontaneously forms between them is powerful and profound. It changes the course of their lives. They will need to learn to navigate their new relationship and all the surrounding circumstances that come with the bond. Family and friends are there to help. Pavel Chekov ("Charlie X") and Gaila ("Bread and Circuses") have joined the cast of small budget drama "That Which Survives," funded by Fleet's indie arm Academy and supervised by Nyota Uhura.
The debut feature from longtime script doctor Leonard McCoy, former show runner on sitcom "Three to Tango," centers on a college student coping with his father's terminal cancer. Chekov plays the son, Gaila the nurse. The father is yet to be cast.
Also attached are director James T. Kirk and producer Spock, the team behind the blockbuster spy-girl franchise starring Carol Marcus, the latest of which, "A Taste of Armageddon," opened last month.
